Vascular Cognitive Impairment Award:
Understanding and preventing cognitive impairment due to cerebrovascular disease is one of the highest priorities for patients and a key step to improving brain health. This award encourages investigators to undertake or continue research or clinical work in the field of vascular cognitive impairment and submit an abstract to the International Stroke Conference.

Deadline

The deadline for abstract submission is Tuesday, August 20, 2024, 11:59 PM CT.

Criteria

The applicant must meet the following criteria to be considered for this award:

  • Researchers and clinicians of any level are invited to apply; they must be AHA/ASA members.
  • The research should be applicable to vascular cognitive impairment.
  • The candidate must submit an abstract in the Brian Health category for the International Stroke Conference 2025 in accordance with the rules and regulations for submitting AHA abstracts.
  • The award will be given to the applicant with the highest scoring abstract in the Brain Health category.
  • An individual may apply for only one award to be presented at the International Stroke Conference 2025.
  • Previous winners of this award are not eligible to re-enter the competition in subsequent years.
  • Only one abstract per candidate will be considered. The applicant should be the first/presenting author.
  • There is no citizenship requirement for this award.
  • Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.

The candidate must submit an abstract in the Brain Health category to the International Stroke Conference 2025 indicating the abstract is to be considered for the Vascular Cognitive Impairment Award. The abstract deadline is Tuesday, August 20, 2024, 11:59 PM CT.

Award

  • Complimentary conference registration
  • $1,500 cash award
  • Airfare (coach) and hotel expenses for one night for attendance at the International Stroke Conference 2025
