*Reaffirmation is defined as having reviewed the literature over a specified period of time to assess whether updates to the recommendations or content of a clinical guideline are warranted. If, upon review, no substantive changes are deemed necessary, a formal decision to reaffirm the guideline is made.
This 2026 guideline replaces the 2024 perioperative guideline. The Surveillance Committee evaluated the evidence published through March 2026 and determined that the 2024 guideline remains valid and current.
This 2024 AHA/ACC/AMSSM/HRS/PACES/SCMR Guideline has been reviewed and determined to be current as of May 2025.
