PVD Mid-Career Award & Lecture

The PVD Mid-Career Award & Lecture allows for the opportunity to recognize an outstanding member of the PVD Council who is in the mid-career status of his/her institution. As an overlooked group of members, the PVD Mid-Career Award & Lecture would dedicate a specific amount of time for a member to present his/her late-breaking science in a well-deserved manner. The member’s science would be one that has advanced research and scientific knowledge in the PVD field.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be an active member of the PVD Council.
• Qualified candidates may include those above the fellow-in-training level or an assistant/associate professor who has not yet achieved full professor.

Current members of the PVD Nominating Committee are not eligible to be nominated for the award.

How to Make a Nomination

Electronic submission through the Council Awards Application System is required. Hard copies of any part of the application cannot be accepted. Individuals may be nominated an unlimited number of times but may receive the award only once.

The nomination file should contain the following documents in PDF format:

1. A nominating letter thoroughly detailing the candidate’s contributions to the field of research. Please submit the letter on letterhead, with signature if possible.
2. The candidate’s curriculum vitae, including bibliography.

A username and password previously set up through online profile registration at Professional Heart Daily will be necessary to access the Application System. AHA Professional Members who are creating an online profile for the first time should make sure to register using their AHA membership identification numbers.

Prize

The winner of the PVD Mid-Career Award & Lecture will present a lecture on a topic of his or her choice in a special plenary session of Vascular Discovery: From Genes to Medicine Scientific Sessions.

The honoree will also receive the following:

• An engraved plaque
• A $1,000 travel stipend
• Complimentary registration to the Vascular Discovery: From Genes to Medicine Scientific Sessions
• One complimentary ticket to the ATVB & PVD Joint Council Dinner. Attendance at the dinner is required.
