EPI Mentoring Award

To qualify for this EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions 2025 award, you must meet the following deadlines:

  • October 11, 2024 – Deadline to have an active AHA membership with this Council.
  • October 18, 2024 at 6 p.m. (CT) – Deadline to apply for award in the Council Awards System.

The Epidemiology and Prevention Mentoring Award highlights the importance of superior mentoring in cardiovascular epidemiologic research by honoring a person who has provided exceptional individual and institutional mentoring and advocacy for cardiovascular epidemiology researchers. The awardee will be honored at the EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Each nominee will be considered based on his or her history of mentoring epidemiology researchers, as well as his or her overall record of the professional development of mentees.
  • The applicant or nominee must be a member of the Council on Epidemiology and Prevention (EPI) at the time of application.

How to Apply or Submit a Nomination

Council on Epidemiology and Prevention (EPI) members may self-nominate/apply for this award.  

The nomination/application file should contain the following documents in PDF format:

Nominee/applicants will be scored based on their nomination letters and mentoring history.

  • A letter of nomination or candidate statement (if self-nominating) specifically addressing the candidate's contributions to mentoring in cardiovascular epidemiology.
  • Up to two additional supporting letters are recommended, but not required.
  • A list of the names of individuals mentored by the nominee/applicant is required, including their current positions.
  • Nominee's curriculum vitae.

Prize

The award will be presented at the Council Dinner at the annual EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions.

The honoree  will receive:

  • Complimentary registration to EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions
  • Hotel accommodations for one night at the conference rate
  • An engraved plaque
  • One (1) council complimentary ticket to the EPI Lifestyle Joint Council Dinner
