Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Lower Extremity Amputations Heat Map

This interactive heat map visualizes the number of individuals in each Congressional district and County who experienced lower extremity amputation within five years of being diagnosed with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). To generate these insights, the total number of individuals diagnosed with PAD in each district and county was calculated. These individuals were then followed over a five-year period to determine how many underwent lower extremity amputation. The resulting rates represent a five-year average, offering a snapshot of PAD-related care across geographic regions. In addition to geographic data, the map includes filters to explore key demographic characteristics—such as age, race, and sex—allowing users to better understand trends in PAD outcomes across different populations.
