3CPR Hard at Work Creating Programming for Scientific Sessions
The Council on Cardiopulmonary, Critical Care, Perioperative, and Resuscitation (3CPR) has been hard at work creating programming for Scientific Sessions 2024 that will capture the current state of science in our respective areas in cardiovascular medicine.
Please consider attending any of the events mentioned below, hosted by the 3CPR Council. We look forward to seeing you in Chicago for Scientific Sessions and the Resuscitation Science Symposium (ReSS) in November! And a special thank-you to the 3CPR members who have been integral to planning these sessions and their leadership, including Dr. Jane Leopold and Dr. Cameron Dezfulian.
Please be sure to attend our Council Reception on Saturday, November 16 from 7-9 p.m. at the Hilton Chicago, where we will honor our awardees and enjoy networking with friends and colleagues. Purchase tickets on the Sessions Registration page.

The Resuscitation Science Symposium (ReSS)
The Resuscitation Science Symposium (ReSS), the 3CPR Council’s premier specialty conference dedicated to resuscitation science, will be hosted at the Hilton Chicago from November 16–17, 2024. Events will kick off with the awarding of 10 ReSS Young Investigator Awards that will be given at the Young Investigator Networking Event hosted by Drs. Nick Johnson and Alexis Steinberg.
ReSS programming will cover the latest innovative research and advances in critical care cardiology and cardiac arrest. Highlights include:
- Critical care cardiology will be highlighted in the first session of the conference in a plenary titled “Hot Topics in Critical Care Cardiology.” Breaking science in E-CPR (Dr. Demetrios Yannopoulis) and shock teams (Dr. Penelope Rampersad) will be highlighted with an update on the state of the science in early PCI after resuscitation from cardiac arrest.
- The finalists for the prestigious Max Harry Weil Award for Resuscitation Science (Dr. Ryan Coute from University of Alabama-Birmingham, Dr. Pavitra Kotini-Shah from University of Illinois at Chicago and Dr. Alexander Mattia Presciutti from Massachusetts General Hospital) will be presented.
- Dr. Robert Neumar from the University of Michigan will give the esteemed Dickinson W. Richards Memorial Lecture on Saturday. In addition, the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ian Jacobs Award for International Collaboration, and the Resuscitation Champion awards will be announced.
- Concurrent oral abstract sessions will be conducted today with top-performing abstracts in both the Clinical and Basic/Translational Sciences.
- A novel session, titled “Myth Busting in Resuscitation Science” will feature two hot topic debates to challenge your current approach to clinical resuscitation (what temperature would you choose?) and resuscitation research (how will you design your next clinical trial?).
- We will end the day with a session on emerging technologies in resuscitation research with topics such as mitochondrial transplantation (Dr. Lance Becker) and trans-optical measurements during CPR (Dr. Tiffany Ko).
