Background
Social media has more than a billion users who share information including posts, status updates, and location identification which presents a promising platform to improve care for cardiovascular conditions. This statement evaluates a number of possible strategies for leveraging the use of social media and digital devices to improve the timely recognition of cardiovascular symptoms and the initiation of treatment with the ultimate goal of optimizing patient care and outcomes.
