Effector Memory T Cells Are Associated With Atherosclerosis in Humans and Animal Models
Published: February 21, 2012
- This study seeks to understand how CD4+T-cell subsets are related to the atherosclerosis process.
- In humans and in animal models, the effector memory T cell subset (TEM) was associated with an increase in atherosclerosis as well as coronary artery disease.
- When these T cells block T-cell antigen dependent recognition in experimental models, protection against atherosclerosis has been demonstrated.
