Robert O. .Bonow, MD, past-president of the American Heart Association, reviews some of the changes in reflected in the 2014 Valvular Heart Disease Guidelines, including the introduction of a new staging system for valvular disease progression and new recommendations for the use of devices recently approved for use in the United States and for the management of patients with asymptomatic aortic stenosis and mitral valve regurgitation.
