Thank you for serving as an American Heart Association Peer Reviewer! This page contains documents to support evaluation of proposals for research funding. The Heart Association encourages reviewers to take the unconscious bias training below. The video and accompanying slides teach mental shortcuts to help reduce natural bias in attitudes and behaviors that can hinder the scoring and decision making process.

The Association DOES NOT permit the use of large language models (LLM – e.g. ChatGPT) or artificial intelligence tools to generate and/or edit peer review critiques. Uploading any portion of a research proposal into a large language model (LLM – e.g. ChatGPT) or artificial intelligence tool to assist in writing a critique of the proposal is explicitly prohibited as it is a violation of the Peer Reviewer Certification Statement (to include confidentiality, non-disclosure, and conflict of interest).
