To support our peer reviewers, the AHA offers and encourages participants to take the unbiased training below. This video and accompanying slides teach mental shortcuts that help reduce natural bias in attitudes and behaviors that can hinder the scoring and decision making process.
Video: Peer Review Unconscious Bias Training
Commit to practices that advance a diverse investigator workforce and health equity in AHA and our institutions. This training will help you develop strategies to become more aware of and mitigate biases, with the goal of being an effective ally when observing potential structural bias and unconscious bias in AHA peer review. Unconscious biases are natural social stereotypes about others outside their own conscious awareness. everyone has biases they must work on.
