Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health (LCH) Mentoring Award

To qualify for this award, you must meet the following deadlines.

  • October 13, 2025 – Deadline to have an active AHA professional membership.
  • October 16, 2025– Deadline to apply for this award in the Council Awards System.

The Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health Mentoring Award honors an individual who provides exceptional individual and institutional mentoring and advocacy for cardiovascular lifestyle and cardiometabolic researchers. The awardee will be honored at the EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions.

Application Criteria

  • Each nominee will be considered based on his or her history of mentoring cardiovascular lifestyle and cardiometabolic, as well as his or her overall record of the professional development of mentees.
  • The applicant or nominee must be a member of the Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health at the time of application.

Evaluation Criteria

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of accomplished researchers, scientists, clinicians and academicians representing the breadth of cardiovascular sciences.

Contacting the review panel, including but not limited to phone calls, emails, social media messages, or any other form of communication, before submitting your application or during the review process will result in disqualification.

Timeline

  • October 13, 2025 – Deadline to have an active AHA professional membership with the council sponsoring the award. Membership must be completed online. Please note that membership processing may take 3–5 days; do not wait until the proposal deadline to Join or Renew.
  • October 16, 2025, 6 p.m. (CDT) – Deadline to apply for the award in the Council Awards Application System.
  • December 2025 – Nominator/Nominee is notified of their award status (selected or not selected).

Required Documents

The nomination/application file should contain the following documents in PDF format:

Nominee/applicants will be scored based on their nomination letters and mentoring history.

  • Nominee's curriculum vitae.
  • A letter of nomination or candidate statement (limited to 250 words), if self-nominating, describing the nominee’s contribution to promoting diversity and training diverse students, scientists, and advocates of diversity.
  • One letter of recommendation from a senior mentor/division or department chief.
  • Optional: Up to two (2) letters of support from a former mentee.
  • A list of mentees, including their current position and the year mentored.

Prize

The award will be presented at the Council Dinner at the annual EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions.

The honoree will receive:

  • Complimentary registration to EPI|Lifestyle Scientific Sessions
  • Hotel accommodation for one night at the conference rate
  • An engraved plaque
  • One (1) council complimentary ticket to the EPI Lifestyle Joint Council Dinner
