Eliseo was born and raised in Northern California, growing up in Sacramento and the surrounding central valley region. Staying close to home he attended UC Davis for undergraduate and received his BS in Medical Microbiology and a Minor in Chicano/a studies. After graduation Eliseo worked at UC Davis Health in Sacramento as a clinical research coordinator before being accepted at Rush Medical College in Chicago. During this time, he coordinated various studies in Cardiology and Infectious Disease from investigator initiated to global scale pharmaceutical lead clinical trials. Now as a second-year medical student at Rush, he continues to participate in cardiology research at Rush and aspire to work with investigators who are paving the way for the next generation of Latino physician scientists. Becoming an NHLCC scholar represents an opportunity to foster his growth as a researcher and provider who advocates for the Latino community. In his free time, Eliseo enjoys cooking, playing sports, and spending time outdoors, especially snowboarding in the mountains.
