Cardiovascular Nursing Clinical Symposium

The Cardiovascular Nursing (CVN) Clinical Symposium is a one-day forum designed to provide cutting-edge clinical information for staff nurses and Advanced Practice Nurses who care for patients with cardiovascular disease and stroke. The symposium will share proven best clinical practices in the care of this patient population.

The symposium covers a wide variety of topics important to cardiovascular and stroke clinicians. The day will start with an important discussion about the 2018 Multi-society Cholesterol Guidelines. If you are interested in what the 12-lead electrocardiogram is telling you, there will be an interactive case discussion session. For those who care for heart failure patients with diabetes, come to the session entitled "The Metabolic Heart: A Twisted Tail between Heart Failure and Diabetes." To end the morning, the keynote address will cover the recently published Primary Prevention Guidelines.

The afternoon session will begin with a discussion about the not-so-forgotten right ventricle, to be followed by a talk on the differences between His Bundle pacing and Bi-ventricular pacing. The stroke topic will cover thrombectomy for ischemic stroke. The final talk of the day will cover transcatheter management of the patient with multi-valvular disease. The purpose of the Cardiovascular Clinical Symposium is to share new information and provide the most current evidence-based practices to promote optimal patient outcomes.
