- Social determinants of health affect a wide range of health risks, health outcomes, and quality-of-life indicators and contribute to health disparities. Therefore, it is increasingly important that social determinants of health be prospectively incorporated into clinical practice and research.
- This document aims to develop a set of data elements and definitions that could be used for describing the social determinants of health that are relevant to cardiovascular clinical care.
- The selected elements and definitions are meant to be useful in clinical trials, observational studies, and data registries.
