Dr. Daria Ilatovskaya is a tenured Associate Professor of Physiology at the Medical College of Georgia, where her laboratory specializes in investigating renal blood pressure control, with a focus on mitochondrial bioenergetics and sex differences in renal metabolism. The lab uses in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro techniques to probe renal function with an integrative approach at the molecular, cellular, and whole-organism levels.
Dr. Ilatovskaya started her career in 2008 as a visiting graduate student at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) under the mentorship of Dr. Alexander Staruschenko. In 2013, she was recruited for a postdoctoral position at MCW and immediately received a highly competitive Ben J Lipps fellowship from the ASN. In 2015, she obtained an NIH K99/R00 Career Development Award from the NIDDK, and in 2020 secured an R01 from NHLBI. She is currently supported by an NIH R01, AHA Transformational award, AHA Strategically Focused Research Network on CKMS in Women, and her trainees are funded by two AHA predoc fellowships and an AHA CDA. She is a recipient of multiple prestigious awards from her professional societies and publishes extensively in highly ranked journals. She has almost 90 peer-reviewed manuscripts in well-recognized journals in the field of renal physiology, such as Nature Rev Nephrol, Compreh Physiol, FASEB Journal, J Am Soc Nephrol, J Biol Chem, PNAS, Kidney Int, JCI Insight, Scientific Reports, AJP Renal, AJP Cell and others.
Dr. Ilatovskaya is active in serving her professional community, including AHA KCVD, where she has continuously served in multiple leadership roles, and is a dedicated mentor for the new generation of scientists.
