Genomic and Precision Medicine Mentoring Award

To qualify for this Scientific Sessions 2023 award, you must meet the following deadlines:
- June 7, 2023 – Deadline to have an active AHA membership with the sponsoring Council.
- June 14, 2023, 6 p.m. CT – Deadline to apply for Scientific Sessions 2023 awards in the Council Awards System.
For awards requiring abstract submission, the deadline to submit your science to Scientific Sessions 2023 is June 8, 2023, 6 p.m. CT
The Genomic and Precision Medicine (GPM) Mentoring Award exemplifies an unprecedented commitment to moving the field of science forward. The winner of this yearly award must be an accomplished scientist that goes above and beyond to mentor well-trained and well-rounded individuals with a passion for science. The award will be given to an individual who during their career has dedicated leadership and success in mentoring individuals in scientific careers.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be member of the Council on Genomic and Precision Medicine at the time of application.
- The number and diversity of students mentored
- The participation of underrepresented groups is favorable. These groups include: women of all racial or ethnic groups; African American, Native American, and Hispanic men; and people with disabilities.
- The completion of graduate programs, goals, fellowship training, publications, and the attainment of pre- or post-doctoral fellowship training grants for trainees
- Assisting mentees to present and publish their work, to find financial aid, and to provide career guidance
- Providing psychological support, encouragement, and essential strategies for life in the scholarly community
- Continued interest in the individual's professional advancement.
- Criteria can be documented with quantitative data (NIH training grant table format), and also through three trainee letters of support.
