A review of drug-drug interactions with statins and other selected drugs used in patients with cardiovascular disease

  • Statins play an important role in clinical management of those at a high risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and those with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
  • The likelihood of these patients taking multiple medications is high, and the possibility for significant drug-drug interactions (DDI’s) should be considered in patients taking statins.
  • This statement helps to inform clinicians, optimize management, and minimize drug-drug interactions.
