Statins are an essential therapy in the management of CCD, and this guideline has some important updates for how they can best be utilized, including in conjunction with other therapies. Dr. Virani and Dr. Newby discuss those recommendations and other detailed aspects of treatment, including antiplatelet therapy, beta blockers, and revascularization. They also go into weight loss and discuss the role that SGLT2 inhibitors or a GLP-1 receptor agonists can play in treatment. They also touch on how to approach special populations, including those with HIV/AIDS, cancer, pregnant women, and young people.
