Science Central FAQ
To best enjoy all of Science Central’s features, log in with your membership credentials. Not a member? On the login page, click create new account and complete the form.
You can find content of interest in three ways:
- Menu: Click on Science Central in the main website menu, then select category pages of interest. (Some of these list secondary category pages to visit.) Each page offers relevant videos and podcasts, journal articles, Science highlights, guidelines and statements, and more.
- Search: The search bar (on the right side of each page at the page title level) lets you specify items of interest and get matching results. You can refine results by clicking facets suited to your search criteria.
- My Page: You can create a page that lets you save content of enduring value to you.
A My Page lets you select, save and review the content meaningful to you. To set it up, complete the form that will pop up in Science Central until completed. (It’s required only once unless you want to change your settings.) Once your My Page exists, it remains available to you via a link near the search bar and via the red My Page link in Science Central’s main menu.
You can view short versions or full-length videos from the video section of any Science Central page. Once you open and view a video, use the save video link in the lower right corner of the player window to save it for subsequent viewing from your My Page. The process works similarly for podcasts. You can remove items from your saved content with the unsave link.
On any content page that contains a bar of videos and podcasts, you will see a My Saved Videos link in the top right of the black bar. Once on that page, you will see all your saved content. There is a dropdown that will allow you to select a specific category (e.g., Cardiology), narrowing the videos/podcast that appear to that topic, allowing you to easily find the content you want to see.
Your visit pathways prompt the system to deliver content reflecting your interests on all Science Central pages (except your My Page, which you manage). To change the nature of content served to you (other than your My Page), use the reset preferences link and complete the form.
