How do I find content?

You can find content of interest in three ways:

  • Menu: Click on Science Central in the main website menu for a dropdown window to appear, then select the category topic of interest. Once open, a secondary navigation further narrowing the page category may appear under the title. Each page offers relevant videos and podcasts, journal articles, Science highlights, guidelines and statements, and more.
  • Search: The search bar (on the right side of each page at the page title level) 'Search Science Central Content' lets you specify items of interest and get matching results. You can refine results by clicking facets suited to your search criteria.
  • My Science Central: You can create a page that delivers content that is of specific value to you through a one-time setup identifying yourself in four areas.
What is My Science Central and how do I set up for myself?

My Science Central is a page that curates content specific to your interests. Log in is required to use this feature. If you are not already logged in, it will prompt you to do so. Then, you'll complete a one-time set up checking all the boxes that apply to you. Once set up, each time you return to My Science Central, the most recent science will populate based on the criteria selected. To modify your selections, click Edit My Preferences in the dropdown to the right of Search Science Central Content at the top right of the page, adjust your selections, then hit submit. A green bar will indicate that your criteria has be updated and provide a link back to your My Science Central page.

How do I save and retrieve videos or podcasts?

You can view short versions of videos from the video gallery on any Science Central category page. Once you open and view a video, click the heart Save Video link in the top left corner of the player window. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to log in as this feature requires. Your video will then be saved to your My Saved Videos page, which can be accessed in the dropdown to the right of Type to Search Science Central Content or the link at the top right of the black video/podcast bar. You can remove saved content on this page, or by re-clicking the activated heart Save Video link in the video pop up where you originally clicked to save.
