Giuseppe Lembo, MD, PhD, is a professor of advanced medical technology and methodology at Sapienza University of Rome and director of the Department of Angio-Cardio-Neurology at IRCCS Neuromed.

He completed his MD, cardiology residency and PhD at the University of Naples Federico II, followed by research training in cardiovascular molecular biology at the University of California, San Diego. In 1995, he established a translational research laboratory at Neuromed, where he has led pioneering investigations in cardiovascular medicine.

His research focuses on arterial hypertension and the complex interactions among the nervous, immune and cardiovascular systems. His work has significantly advanced understanding of the effects of hypertension on brain health, autonomic regulation in cardiovascular disease, neuroimmune mechanisms underlying organ damage and the use of advanced neuroimaging to detect hypertension-related brain injury.

He has also made important contributions to elucidating the molecular pathways involved in vascular dysfunction and aneurysm formation, characterizing extracellular matrix-associated proteins, such as melusin and emilin, and defining the role of PlGF in cardiovascular pathophysiology.

Lembo has authored more than 300 publications in leading journals, including Cell, Nature, Nature Medicine, Immunity and American Heart Association journals. He serves as consulting editor of Cardiovascular Research and regularly reviews for several scientific journals. As a committed mentor, he has guided several researchers who have established distinguished scientific careers. He also collaborates closely with the Italian Ministry of Health and major international organizations, contributing to the development of strategies that promote excellence and innovation in clinical and biomedical research.
