To qualify for this Scientific Sessions 2024 award, you must meet the following deadlines:

May 31, 2024 – Deadline to have an active AHA membership with the sponsoring Council.
June 10, 2024, 6 p.m. CT – Deadline to apply for Scientific Sessions 2024 awards in the Council Awards System.

The Council on Genomic and Precision Medicine (GPM) Medal of Honor exemplifies a scientist that has made significant contributions to the field of genomic and precision medicine. The winner of this yearly award must be an accomplished scientist whose work has transformed the ways in which the field thinks and approaches a particular niche in genomic and precision medicine. The award will be given to an individual who during their career has dedicated international leadership in the area of genomic and precision medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

Must be a member of the Council on Genomic and Precision Medicine at the time of application
The novelty and innovativeness of the science,
The track record of the individual including peer reviewed publications,
The potential of the scientific discoveries to transform clinical care
Criteria can be documented with quantitative data (biosketch, grant funding including past, present and pending) and also through 3-5 colleague letters of support.

How to Apply or Submit a Nomination

Each nomination should contain the following documents in PDF format:

Nominee's curriculum vitae or NIH bio sketch that includes awards, publications and grant funding
A letter of nominationor candidate statement (if self-nominating), drafted on electronic letterhead with a signature. The letter should outline and provide clear examples of how the candidate meets the criteria:
1. the novelty and innovativeness of the science
2. the track record of the individual including peer reviewed publications
3. the potential of the scientific discoveries to transform clinical care
A primary letter of recommendation from a colleague who can evaluate the candidate's research contributions. The letter must address each of the major award evaluation criteria and indicate what distinguishes the candidate in each criterion.
