GLP-1 analog Liraglutide reduces blood pressure and protect endothelial function in arterial hypertension by reduction of inflammation and oxidative stress - an endothelial cell mediated effect

https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/atv.0000615456.97862.30

Editor's Note:
Liraglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analog.  This article reports that liraglutide improves high blood pressure, cardiac hypertrophy, vascular fibrosis, endothelial dysfunction, oxidative stress and vascular inflammation. These benificial effects of liraglutide persist in myeloid cell GLP-1 receptor-deficient mice, but are diminished in global or endothelial cell-specific GLP-1 receptor-deficient mice.

TLR4-dependent signaling drives extracellular catabolism of low-density lipoprotein aggregates

LDL breakdown and uptake by macrophages exacerbates atherosclerosis. We show that TLR4 signaling regulates catabolism of aggregated LDL and promotes lipid uptake during atherosclerosis.

Extracellular Vesicles from Adipose Stem Cells Prevent Muscle Damage and Inflammation in a Mouse Model of Hind Limb Ischemia

Effective treatments in patients with CLI are still an unmet need. We demonstrate that ASC-EVs drive muscle protective cues via their NRG-1/mRNA cargo in a mouse model of hind-limb ischemia.
