Message from the Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular (ATVB) Council Chair

Steven R. Lentz, MD, PhD, FAHA

Steven R. Lentz, MD, PhD, FAHA Welcome to the Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology!

Our council engages scientists and clinicians working to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerotic, vascular, and thrombotic diseases in the US and worldwide. Council membership includes investigators with interests that range from discovery science to clinical research. The council provides networking and volunteer opportunities, sponsors a wide range of career-development events through an active and energetic Early Career Committee, and partners with many national and international organizations concerned with the fields of arteriosclerosis, thrombosis and vascular biology.

The ATVB council is among the largest and most active councils of the AHA. We strive to engage our members through the dissemination of scientific findings at national meetings, including the ATVB/PVD Scientific Sessions, held each Spring, and the AHA Scientific Sessions in the Fall, and through our flagship journal, ATVB. This high-impact journal publishes original research findings that are subjected to rigorous peer review and solicits reviews from authoritative leaders in our field.

If you are a clinician, scientist, or trainee interested in arteriosclerosis, lipoproteins, thrombosis, vascular biology, or vascular disease, I encourage you to become a member of the ATVB Council and think of ATVB as your career home. Several membership options are available, including reduced rates for trainees. I particularly urge you to consider applying to become a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA).

We welcome feedback, suggestions, and innovative ideas. If you have any suggestions for augmenting the council's activities, please feel free to contact me. There are ample opportunities for each of you to become actively engaged in the ATVB Council.

Best Wishes,

Steven R. Lentz, MD, PhD, FAHA
Chair, Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology
