Eligibility Criteria

All applicants for the award must be members of the Council on Clinical Cardiology by the time of application submission. If you need to become an AHA Professional Member, you should do so before submitting your abstract and award application materials. Join or renew today!
Men and women are eligible for nomination. Each nominee will be considered based on his or her history of mentoring women cardiologists as well as his or her overall record of the professional development of women in cardiology.

Current members of the CLCD Women in Cardiology Committee are not eligible to apply for or be nominated for the award.

How to Apply or Submit a Nomination

Each nomination should contain the following documents in PDF format:

Nominee's curriculum vitae or NIH bio sketch that includes awards, publications and grant funding
A letter of nominationor candidate statement (if self-nominating), drafted on electronic letterhead with a signature. The letter should outline and provide clear examples of how the candidate meets the criteria:
1. the novelty and innovativeness of the science
2. the track record of the individual including peer reviewed publications
3. the potential of the scientific discoveries to transform clinical care
A primary letter of recommendation from a colleague who can evaluate the candidate's research contributions. The letter must address each of the major award evaluation criteria and indicate what distinguishes the candidate in each criterion.

Once logged in, you may apply for the Scientific Sessions Lifetime Achievement Awards and Lectures and select the GPM Medal of Honor from the award drop-down list.

The nomination file should contain the following documents in PDF format:

A letter of nomination or candidate statement (if self-nominating) specifically addressing the candidate’s contributions in effectively mentoring women cardiologists.
Nominee’s curriculum vitae
List of mentees and current positions
Up to three optional letters of support from mentees

Prize

The award will be presented at the annual Clinical Cardiology Council Dinner at the AHA Scientific Sessions in November. The winner will receive:

Complimentary registration to Scientific Sessions
Hotel accommodations for one night
Engraved plaque
Complimentary council dinner ticket and presentation of a plaque at the annual council dinner
